Arizona is, by no means, a soft hearted dog. She's been through to much in her puphood for that to be true, but she certainly does have spirit. It's the one thing that was never driven from her, and it's what keeps her going even to this day. It's what makes her happy or sad, or maybe even a little bit of a spitfire at times. It normally depends on who it is she's speaking to half the time.
Either way though, if anyone knows her well enough, then they know that this girl has quite the personality. She certainly isn't a pushover of any kind. In fact, she's more the kind to get up in your face and tell you what's on your mind if she thinks you need to hear it. But normally that only happens if she doesn't like you all to much, or if she really does have the feeling that she needs to speak out. Either way, Arizona can be a force to be reckoned with if the occasion ever arises.
Now, if you're first meeting her then you aren't going to see this side of her right off the bat. The timid side of her never really went away, and so she can be rather shy when you first meet her. Well, she's more just the quite type more than anything. She won't really say much to you if she doesn't trust you.
That's a whole other side of her altogether though. Trust comes slowly with Arizona, but once you earn it you're as good as gold with this girl. She's as loyal a friend as can be, and she'll certainly be one to stand with you through the end of things. Now, of course this loyalty can disappear just as quickly as you can earn it, because one wrong move and believe me -- you're going to end up in the dog house for a long, long time.

Arizona's life was never something of fairy tale. Even from the very first day she was born things weren't exactly easy. She was born on a breeding farm along with six other pups in her litter, although she never knew any of them. The moment she opened her eyes for the first time she was taken from her mother, and from that moment on all she knew was people.
She was sold rather quickly once she turned just past six months, moving on to a pet shop in a matter of days. It took about a month after that before Arizona was adopted by a man who, at the time, was probably in his early forties. Anyways, the man adopted the young pup and brought her home. At that moment it seemed as if things were going to turn out just fine -- until the man's son came into the picture.
The kid was never someone nice, and there was no exception for little Arizona. He kicked her and terrorized the little thing, but it was only when his father wasn't around. This went on for months upon months, and she merely only took this treatment in secret. Up until she turned one anyways.
Arizona struck out, biting the boy and leaving a rather harsh gash on his arm. It was after this that the man's father sold her back to the pet shop. Arizona remained there for a couple months, but no one ever adopted her since, by this point, she had become so weary of any human due to her treatment that she would snap at anyone who tried to be friendly to her.
This in turn caused her to become sent to the shelter, and it was there that she was nearly sent to the needle. But that was before Jessie came into her life.
The woman was so kind, and so very sweet. In fact, it was enough to let her get close to Arizona. Soon after their meeting the woman adopted the young dog, and in turn it slowly renewed Arizona's faith in humans. She remained quite happy with Jessie at that point, and it was because of her sweet treatment that her own sweet and kind demeanor returned.
It wasn't long after she turned two that the dogs rose up and went against the humans. Jessie had been terrified, and truthfully, so had Arizona. But, unlike many of the dogs she had come to know over the time spent with Jessie, she didn't revolt. She remained true to her human, and so it was that she followed her down below the city when the time came to flee. She's been down there with them ever since, although she's become a bit of a loner now. She never joined the pack of dogs that formed in the sewers below, but she does remain to protect the humans till her last dying day.
