"Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Liridon, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean."
Once upon a time, Liridon had been home to the most varied of creatures, from the striking and elegant, to those with characteristics that would send one into hiding. They had been through so much turmoil and so much disaster together. They had warred; they had united to fight the darkness and then together, the Ilirs, Dalmats, Kushtims and Donietas found themselves a peace. This peace did not last. With one last mighty breath across the world, Pyrrus ignited Mount Zyanya and the Elementals vanished into the night, and were never seen again. Liridon fell into turmoil and writhed in pain. Volcanoes formed, pushing from beneath the surface and erupting with a mad fury; water flooded from the lake and the oceans, drowning many; the sky became a twisted and menacing face of dark clouds, as storms boiled. This time became known as the Great Cataclysm. Now that time is past. It has been five hundred years since that time, and the inhabitants returned. The Elementals did not. Without them, the inhabitants began to suffer and they lost their magic. The preyed to the Elementals and most believed they were forsaken. A rift began to occur in them. Now two sides have emerged. Those who believe in Magic and believe the Elementals are their gods and will return to save them. They inhabit the temples and the mysterious forests that they felt still had a magical feel to it. They pray for their salvation. They have claimed the region of Dalmat, that lays north and closer to the volcanic region of Mount Zyanya. Then there are those who shun their beliefs, thinking Magic is only a dream, a nightmare that plagues them, and that the Elementals are a myth. Nothing more. They believe in forging ahead and not putting their faith in figures that do not exist. They believe they are stronger without it. They are devout in these feelings. They are the Ilirs now, staking their claim on the southern region and the shoreline. These factions have become divided, and they live away from each other.None of them has realised though, that the magic is attempting to return to their world. Crystals have begun appearing, flung from the burning Mount Zyanya across the domain of Liridon. They range in all sizes; and are controlled by their beholder’s thoughts. Will this be the proof the Dalmats need to show that Magic was real, and the Elementals are still watching, and to crush the Ilirs for their heresy? Or will it be the Ilirs, with scientific thinking and believing that the crystals hold powers that are simply charged by the volcanic activity, making it the perfect weapon to destroy the Dalmats? The decision has yet to be made; but tensions are rising.
Liridon is a fantasy equine rpg. It is a friendly, cheerful place, home to all those characters that didn't quite fit in anywhere else.[/color]
