Overall Personality: We're given only what we need, only the chance to survive. Una is quite the shy canine, though this behavior pattern is fairly recent and brought upon by her sudden exposure to living out in the wild. Slow to trust and slower to grow feelings of any sort for, Una is not the type to turn her teeth on anything unless given no other option. Having been brought up in a relatively loving household, Una is often torn between following the rules of a tamed pet or a wild beast. To look deeper, however, would reveal a much different creature. Una longs to be friendly, loving, and social. Still a very playful dog, she loves running around in a circle for no reason or having a friendly scuffle. Una is also the type to cuddle or nuzzle Someone regardless of their views on personal space. Eager to please, she'll do anything for anyone she respects. It's possible she might even give her life or abandon her own morals. Assuming of course one can get her out of her initial fear of everyone. Her desperation for acceptance can drive her to gullibility. If found by the wrong crowd, it isn't impossible to brainwash her. Her fear of males stems from the way Tank, the only male she ever knew, treated her. Una has no idea if they all act that way, but it may take that much longer to give them a chance. She is slow to make decisions and her fear of doing something wrong or upsetting superiors could drive her in the direction of failure. Physically, Una is rather clumsy. When nervous, she has a prominent stutter. And even then it's a coin toss, a roll of the dice. History: I combined the two, but if you want I can provide a different sample! Role-playing Sample: This city won't say where she's going, she won't speak of where she's been. It was not Una's choice to leave her human masters. In fact, she was loathe to even think of such a thing. However, fate is a thing that happens, grappling and twisting like a choke collar around the throat of life, and it came to the young canine all at once. As she stared at her rippling reflection in a puddle on the concrete at her paws, a huge sigh escaped her. From deep within her chest she felt the whine begin, building until it lodged in her throat. Head lowered so that her nose was mere inches from the surface, and with a last look back she knew for certain she was alone. But Una had not always been alone. The circumstances that led her to her first real home were quite blurry. Of course Una had only been a few weeks old at the time, but what she did recall was Tank. He towered over her. Una craned her neck to look up at him. The dog's expression was grim as he looked upon her, but he displayed no hostility as his great head lowered to sniff her. The two years she spent living at his side were unforgettable - if only because he was nothing like an older guardian. Many times she tried to entice him into playing, but he merely glowered at her. Other times she would try cuddling against him as she felt she had done before, but he would move or bowl her over with one of his massive paws. "These humans are full of lies," he had growled one evening as he spied her in the lap of the female human. "I've had enough of them." But despite his talk he did nothing but grumble. Months became years. Una had little concept of what a year was - only that now her legs were too long for her body and she was overwhelmed with the desire to see the world beyond the fence. More and more dogs could be smelled, and how Una wanted to join them! One evening her humans left. Una always worried for them, but knew they would return. But when days passed, Una began to panic. Tank, who was quite old by now, snapped at her for her behavior. While he only intended to calm her down, the resulting argument brought out the growing tension in both and he lunged at her. When Una realized she stood no chance against him, she thought it was too late. But Tank came to his senses and told her to leave. After much hesitation, she finally left. Or rather, it was Tank who chased her away. This was nothing like the world she had envisioned. She was oh so very hungry! Eight million scents overwhelmed her, impossible to sort. Random dogs proved to be hostile, and she didn't dare approach them afterward. A sudden breeze swept across the puddle she had been peering at. No, Una realized, she had been alone - at least in some way. There were so few humans - the one thing she needed to survive. No, that wasn't true. Maybe she could get along without them. But doing that meant hearkening back to something deeper. Or maybe, finding a pack that was friendly. If you can hear me. I'm coming home, all I need is a little guiding light. --lyrics by the protomen |
