Meaning: Rat.
Nicknames: Squirt, Rae, Little One.
Age: 3 years.

Ræt is probably the cutest dog on the planet, but never let her hear you say that. Mention the words cute, small or adorable to her and she’s more likely to bite you on the nose than lick your face. Most would expect the dog of a human to be all sweet and fluffy, especially one her size that could be squished at one wrong word, but she’s not all chocolate and flowers. Her size makes her more determined than anything to keep her human protected from the new, screwed up world that lives beyond the underground. Ræt has an unbeatable love for her single human, a young woman named Luce. The small dog was given to her as a cross between her 21st birthday present/moving out present, but she became more like a protector and child to the young woman. Luce and Ræt live in the underground human colony and are only ever separated when Ræt goes to the surface to hunt for food. Most wouldn’t let a little dog like her out of their sight, but Luce knows the cross can take care of herself.
Y’know, despite being tiny. Ræt is actually a dachshund cross, but looks completely like a little wiener dog. She’s a red merle, a mix of browns, roan reds and ginger with longhaired coat. She’s got big brown eyes and sweet floppy ears, as well as the cutest little wrinkles at her ankles. Many of the humans whoo over her, believing she’s still a puppy. Many have the desire to protect her, but trying to do so is pointless, as she’s more likely to snap at your toes. She like to be petted and given attention, but start cooing over her like a baby and she won’t be happy. The reason for her being so small is not only because of her breeding, but because she was born with dwarfism. She’s about as long as a bottle of 500ml pop, maybe slightly longer and maybe as tall to her head as a can of coke and a half. Proper teeny weeny dog.
But don’t mistake her looks. Yes, you could pick up with your jaws and knock her down with your paw, but she’s an ankle biter and a whipper snapper with no fear. She can be a bit snappy and blunt sometimes, but in all fairness, she just wants something to snuggle up to and not squish her in the middle of the night. She spents a lot of her time up on the surface, or down in the low light of the tunnels, so while her vision isn’t brilliant, it’s rather good in low light. She also has an exceptional nose. She tends to hunt at night, though is often mistaken for a rat… and dinner.
